Jesus’ Love Runs to You!

Welcome Back to the Worthy Blog Cafe!

Hey there, friend! Welcome to week two of our Falling in Love with Jesus series! I hope you’ve been enjoying this journey and that your heart is falling even deeper in love with Jesus. So grab your coffee—the line doesn’t look too long—and meet me at the round table by the big window. Let’s dive into today’s scripture: Luke 15:11-31.

Got your coffee? See, the wait wasn’t too bad! I got an extra hot, sugar-free caramel macchiato with almond milk. What did you get? Maybe I’ll have to try your go-to next time!

Jesus’ Love: Patient, Forgiving, and Always Welcoming

Maybe today, you’re feeling like you’ve messed up—like you’ve gone too far and there’s no way Jesus could still love you. Maybe you’re even ashamed to come back to Him, thinking you’ve disappointed Him beyond repair. Let me stop you right there—that’s a lie straight from the enemy! Jesus’ love is never-ending, and today’s scripture proves it.

The Prodigal Son’s Journey (Luke 15:11-31)

This parable starts with a father and his two sons. The younger son asks for his inheritance early—essentially telling his father, I want what’s mine now, as if you were already dead. Despite knowing his son would likely waste it, the father grants his request, just as Jesus gives us free will. Sometimes, He allows us to chase things He knows we don’t truly need, simply because He loves us enough to let us choose.

The son takes his inheritance, moves far from home, and spends it recklessly. Then, a famine strikes, and he finds himself broke and desperate. In his lowest moment, he takes a job feeding pigs—a job that, for a Jewish man, was considered shameful because pigs were unclean (Leviticus 11:7). He’s starving, longing for even the pigs' food.

And then, something shifts—he comes to his senses. He realizes that he must shift his focus back to his father, choosing to return even if it means coming back as a servant.

Have You Ever Had a "Come to Your Senses" Moment?

I know I have! I used to be a party girl, living for the next good time, thinking that life was all about fun and freedom. I even remember asking God, Hey, can I just go to these parties for a bit before fully surrendering to You? He let me choose. And guess what? After all the fun wore off, I was left empty—like a famine had hit my soul. That was my wake-up call.

What about you? Are you feeling lost or like your life is out of control? Are you ready to shift your focus back to Jesus? If so, know that He’s ready and waiting for you with open arms.

The Father’s Response: Pure Love

The prodigal son returns home, prepared to beg for a servant’s position—a role so low that he could be dismissed at a moment’s notice. But before he can even get his speech out, his father sees him from a distance and runs to him. He embraces him, welcomes him home, and throws a celebration—not just because his son is back, but because, in a way, he was dead and is now alive again.

This is exactly how Jesus loves YOU. He’s not waiting to hear a perfect apology or a rehearsed speech. He just wants YOU—mess and all. When I finally surrendered my life to Jesus, I was still that same broken party girl, but He welcomed me anyway. I remember going to church with my grandma on March 19th, giving my life to Jesus, and feeling a love I had never known. That night, someone told me, Heaven is celebrating you right now! And my family celebrated with ice cream—it was the sweetest reminder that I was home, both physically and spiritually.

Jesus is ready to celebrate YOU, too. If you’ve been running, it’s time to come home.

The Older Brother’s Bitterness

But the story doesn’t end there. The older brother—the faithful one who never left—becomes bitter. He can’t believe the father is throwing a party for the reckless brother while he’s been the one working hard all along.

Maybe you’ve felt this way before. Lord, I’ve been faithful! Why are You blessing them and not me? It’s easy to become so familiar with Jesus that we take our relationship with Him for granted. But we must guard our hearts against bitterness and celebrate our Kingdom brothers and sisters when they come home. Because in the end, we are all recipients of the same grace.
