Grandma's Porch

ree

I can still close my eyes and feel the

warmth, joy, and laughter coming from my

grandma’s porch. It was a place where the whole family would gather, tell stories, and joke around. I miss that place, it’s a memory I will forever keep in my heart. I remember being a little girl sitting in a white wooden chair, or sometimes on a wooden porch swing, listening to my grandma talk about Jesus. That’s all she talked about, she truly loved Jesus with all her heart. She would say Jesus told me this or that, I thought she was crazy ha ha. It was very clear to me that Jesus talked to her. Growing up I only thought Jesus talked to my grandma and pastors ha ha. As I grew up I remember talking to her about a boy I was in love with and he was leaving to join the military. She introduced me to Psalm 91, the safety prayer as she called it. She told me to pray Psalm 91 over him everyday. She was always giving me scripture.

Later in life as I entered my College years I began to seek Jesus for myself. I remember going to her house telling her about how I wanted more of Jesus. She told me I can see it, you really are serious. Months went by after that Friday March 10, 2011 I went to a revival with her, it was great. The preacher said the next day he was going to preach on grace. I wanted to go, but I had a modeling event to model that night. That day March 11, 2011 I felt this strong urge (it was the Holy Spirit, I just didn’t know it at the time) to go to church with my Grandma. I texted the lady in charge of the modeling event and told her I couldn’t make it, so I went to church with my Grandma. I got saved that night, gave my life to Jesus! It was the BEST day of my life. On the drive back to my Grandma's house we pulled into her garage and we talked about Jesus. She gave me the verse Jeremiah 29:11 that was the first time I heard it. I went back to the revival with her March 12, 2011 and I got filled with the Holy Ghost!

My Grandma went home to be with Jesus late last night. Today she is celebrating Resurrection Sunday with Jesus! WOW, Grandma, what a way to go out! I love her and I’m SO thankful for her. I am forever thankful that she never stopped talking about Jesus! I’ve had a lot of other beautiful people share Jesus with me, but she was my biggest influence. My heart is full knowing that she is with Jesus! When you have Jesus you have everything!
