"But one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice,’ and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 CSB
This is one of my favorite scriptures. This verse, is the foundation of everything I do! It might seem like a random verse, but it holds SO much.
I want to encourage you to grab your Bible, read Luke 10:38-42, and pray that Jesus will help you soak this verse into your heart.
I’m sure that you have read this story or have done some Bible study about Mary and Martha. I know I can recall some messages and studies I have done. I’m not going to ask you who you are most like. ;) It wasn’t until I stepped into Bible School that verse 42 consumed my heart. Now, let’s meet Martha.
Martha is a distracted girl, and has a huge task list to complete. She’s so worried about checking off every box. She’s upset because she sees work to be done and her sister is sitting at Jesus’ feet. She expresses her concerns to Jesus.
Jesus tells Martha, “Marha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice,’ and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41
That ONE THING Jesus is referring to, is Him…

(JESUS!) Mary didn’t care about her to do list all she cared about was delighting herself in Jesus’ loving, peaceful presence. She just wanted to love Him, her mind wasn’t consumed with her to do’s. Her mind and heart was consumed with her beloved Jesus. Love wants to be close to Jesus.
“Protect me as the pupil of your eye; HIDE ME IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS.” Psalm 17:8 CSB
It is our love for the lover Jesus, when this kind of love is found your heart will cry…
“I am my love’s and my love is mine; he feeds among the lilies.” Song Of Songs 6:3

When you truly find yourself in love with Jesus nothing else seems to matter… how much money you have, your dreams, goals, to do list, and etc. Your desires become His desires. You know that whatever happens your Heavenly Bride Groom Jesus is taking care of you. Falling in love with Jesus and sitting at His feet should be our foundation of everything.
The person who finds Jesus and loves Him cannot fail in life because LOVE NEVER ENDS! Check out 1 Corinthians 13:8.
I pray that Luke 10:42 touches your heart! That you pause, take a moment, put your to dos aside, sit at the feet of Jesus, and fall deeply in love with Him.
Love Your Kingdom Sister,
Jessica
