Worthy Of The Shift: How It All Began!

In May of 2018, I found myself in an empty house, alone and broken. My marriage was crumbling, and I was desperate for happiness. One day, I stumbled upon a health and fitness coach on Instagram who woke up at 5 a.m. to exercise, shared healthy recipes, and passionately helped women become their best selves. Inspired, I reached out to her. She encouraged me to start my own journey, and before I knew it, I was on my first Zoom call with other health and fitness coaches, excited to embrace this new chapter.
I quickly dove into my health and fitness journey, losing weight and inches. I even began helping other women achieve their goals, which felt amazing—at least on the surface. Inside, I was still broken.
As the weeks passed, I faced ridicule from people close to me. They mocked my coaching, called me names, and dismissed my efforts as worthless. The pain was overwhelming, and I often cried during workouts. But I refused to give up. I kept moving forward, determined to persevere.

One day, during a coaching call, the trainer whose program had impacted my life appeared as a guest speaker. He spoke about a mentorship program, and I felt a strong nudge to join—even though I couldn’t afford it. Trusting God, I took a leap of faith, applied for a credit card, and signed up.
That mentorship was life-changing. I forgave those who ridiculed me, forgave myself, and began walking in love and confidence. I discovered the greatness God had placed within me. Physically, I grew stronger, working out with that trainer every Saturday. His tough love helped me become the best version of myself.
During this time, God whispered to me that coaching was a "Kingdom Thing." Though I didn’t fully understand, I kept hearing the word “Shift” in my spirit. My life was shifting—becoming harder, messier, and more uncomfortable. Then came the word “Worthy.” Finally, the two words came together: Shift Worthy. God revealed that Shift Worthy was the message of my journey.

By 2019, I felt a growing nudge to share my story. I started something on IG called Worthy Wednesdays, back when IGTV was popular. It became a way to share inspiring, Shift Worthy messages that encouraged others in their faith and life journeys. Though I still didn’t fully grasp the Shift Worthy vision, God had highlighted it strongly in my heart.
In October of that year, I walked through the heartbreak of divorce. I remember the pain vividly—my divorce was finalized on a Tuesday, and by Wednesday, I was supposed to deliver an empowering Worthy Wednesday message. But I couldn’t hold back my tears. I tried to record, but the grief was too overwhelming. I stopped Worthy Wednesdays after that, feeling too broken to continue.
During this painful season, my relationship with God suffered. I stopped attending church and withdrew from everything—including coaching. I was barely holding on, though I continued my health journey as a small way to maintain control. One day, God used a friend at work who invited me to a church service out of town. I said yes. At the end of that service, I cried, prayed, and hugged her, sensing God’s presence again.

Shortly after, God called me to a church I still attend to this day. I remember walking in and hearing Him say during worship, “This is where I want you.” That moment marked a turning point. I began reconnecting with Jesus and started meeting weekly at a coffee shop with the friend who had invited me to church and others. Those coffee shop conversations set the tone for how this ministry was built and how the Worthy Café became an essential part of it.

Jessica, thank you for sharing your story. It was deeply painful and I am sorry for your pain you have suffered. Thank you God for picking up the broken pieces and restoring vessels for your glory. Shift worthy indeed.
